How to decide where to put a greenhouse

1-Greenhouse site

Since greenhouses are being used more frequently in agriculture, owners are finding it difficult to select an appropriate location for their construction. A suitable greenhouse site can increase its usefulness while also lowering its overall energy use.

The following list of recommendations for the positioning of greenhouse building has been put together by Chengfei Greenhouse for everyone's usage. Have a look at that!

1. Place greenhouses where there is sufficient of light
The sun is the main light source and heat source of the greenhouse, so to choose a flat, open, sunny site, can ensure the indoor light and heat demand, avoid artificial light, so as to achieve the purpose of saving energy.

2.Select a location with a firm foundation.
It is required to undertake a site survey and investigation in advance, study the composition and subsidence of the foundation soil, and determine the bearing capacity, in particular for the construction of a glass greenhouse site. Prevent the foundation's subsidence from causing the greenhouse to suffer overall damage.

3.Take into account the distribution of wind zone, speed, and direction
You should decide to stay away from the obstruction and tuyere. In this way, it is benefit for the air circulation of greenhouses in the hot season. At the same time, you should also avoid constructing greenhouses in places with extreme winter weather or strong winds.

4.Choose a place where the soil is loose and rich
For greenhouses for soil cultivation, plots with fertile and loose soil, high organic matter content, and no salinization or other pollution sources should be selected. Loam or sandy loam is generally required. Preferably, plots that have not been planted in recent years can reduce the incidence of pests and diseases. If the greenhouse is soilless cultivation, soil conditions do not need to be considered.

5.Choose an area without heavy pollution
Avoid factories that produce significant amounts of dust or pick locations upwind of these factories to prevent crop contamination and improve greenhouse care in general.

6.Choose a location with quick access to water and electricity
First, because a large greenhouse requires a lot of electricity, owners can employ a backup power source and self-provided power generation equipment to prevent production power failures that would result in financial losses during important moments. The second requirement is that the greenhouse is located adjacent to a water supply, has high water quality, and has neutral or slightly acidic pH levels. The owners also need to construct a few minor water storage facilities to prevent the breakdown of the water supply pipe.

7.Choose a location with convenient transit
Greenhouse park outside the need to be close to the traffic road, to facilitate the transportation of agricultural products, sales and management.
