When a greenhouse panel pulls out in wind, first investigate how the panel was retained and how the frame moved. Sealant may close a weather joint, but it is not automatically a substitute for missing clips, inadequate edge engagement or a damaged glazing bar. The correct repair depends on the greenhouse system and the covering product.

Keep people away from loose glazing and unstable framing. Inspect only after the weather has passed and access is safe. This is a fault-recording guide for an installer or owner; it does not establish a structural wind rating or prescribe a universal fastening pattern.
Preserve evidence before rebuilding the opening
Photograph the bay from inside and outside before removing surviving components, where safe. Mark which edge came loose first if that can be established. Save displaced clips and fasteners for inspection, and note whether the panel was intact, cracked around a fixing or broken through its face.
Record the panel product, thickness, bay dimensions and fixing type. Include the door and vent positions during the event if known. Separate observations from guesses: “two clips found on the ground” is stronger evidence than “the clips were never installed.”
Compare affected bays with an undamaged bay of the same design. An end bay, corner bay or door opening may have different details, so a visually similar position is not always a valid reference.
Trace the retaining system, one connection at a time

These questions direct an inspection; they do not identify the cause from photographs alone. Wind records from a nearby weather station can provide context, but they do not reproduce the pressure at a particular corner of the greenhouse.

Keep weather sealing separate from mechanical retention
A seal has to be compatible with the covering and joint. Some systems use gaskets, caps or proprietary sealants; others require drainage and movement at particular edges. Applying a continuous bead everywhere can obstruct drainage or restrain expansion without providing the intended structural connection.
For example, Palram's SUNLITE Plus greenhouse installation instructions specify details for that panel system, including orientation and fastening considerations. Those details should not be transferred unchanged to another manufacturer's panel or an improvised frame.
Ask for a repair drawing or the relevant manual page showing the retainer, supporting member, joint and compatible seal. If the original system cannot be identified, an installer or structural engineer needs to assess the assembly before a permanent repair is specified. Extra screws placed wherever access is easy are not a documented repair design.
Inspect the frame and openings alongside the panel
Look for loose base connections, distorted posts, shifted bracing, damaged hinges and latches that no longer align. Record these for the qualified person; do not tighten or straighten structural components arbitrarily while other parts remain unstable.
Check whether a replacement panel will be supported as its manufacturer requires. A new sheet cannot correct a twisted opening. Also check the vent and door operating instructions for severe weather. Advice to open or close a particular opening during a storm must come from the greenhouse's own design and emergency procedure, not a general online rule.
What a completed repair record should contain
Keep photographs of the exposed supports and final retainers, the replacement product identification, the approved fixing detail and any work on the frame. Have the installer confirm normal door and vent movement after the repair and identify any further inspection needed before the next severe-weather season.
If the remaining problem is moisture trapped in multiwall channels, treat it as a separate drainage and sealing investigation.
